This was a very powerful and moving narrative. My sister was diagnosed with glioblastoma in 2016. You remind me of her energy and honesty and in-your-face reality check. Thank you. I’ve been reading this blog (?) for almost 2 years.
I can’t thank you enough for your more than candid honesty. I witnessed my husband die of glioblastoma and three years later witness the love of my life die of another form of cancer. I say- no one knows why- but I believe we are all. precious. Myself- I’ve survived an almost life long struggle with alcoholism. Why am I alive while these two men I loved the most are gone. It’s not within my power to know- only to accept and live my life to the fullest I can muster one day at a time. Adam, your writings have been instrumental in my journey of acceptance- thank you.
Poetry. Sheer poetry. But the joy and dignity in your words- it’s truly amazing. I was fortunate enough to be there for someone who had your gratitude your dignity your joy at being alive. It’s a privilege🙏
Adam, each time I read your words I wish I could share them with so many of my patients’ families and loved ones as I listen to them offer platitudes and bullshit “comfort” words that never really do what they think they do.
This post brought tears to my eyes I imagine every patient, who visibly shrinks in the presence of those who mean well but have no clue, shouting these words back at them. Thank you for the voice you share with so many.
Another incredible read, Adam - and thank you especially for the nod to MJF and Cold Play - that video had me in tears last night - as you can probably imagine. Keep doing all of this (okay - not the leaving your spouse part - don't do that!) - and especially keep pushing the limits of your employer's inclusion efforts. We're in it with you all the way.
Brian you are awesome fighter, my Mom is so proud of YOU in heaven. You wrote it like it truly is and may all those who read this look at their own lives and be more thankful.
Love your posts, love and prayers to u and your family❤️
